So tempting, influential
Considered a mother of all cuisines, Sindhi food is quite
famous for its vegetarian dishes as it has a right mix of sweets and
dal varieties. Supposedly an oldest cuisine on the globe, the Sindhi
menu is a real big hit among not just Indians but also Westerners.
At the 10-day Sindhi Food Fest currently on at Garden Cafe in
Raddison GRT Hotel, a host of spread beginning from Badam Jo Sharbat
to the Sindhi Subzi Curry to the Methi Seviyan finds a prominent
place.
Speaking about the fest, Elango Rajendran, executive chef of
the hotel, said, 'we planned to serve a meal unlike the regular stuff
dished out in hotels in and around Chennai, We struck upon the idea to
hold a Sindhi Food Fest, which is unique and never tried before. We
carefully collected recipes from various quarters besides taking the
help of Sindhi families settled in parts of north Chennai for the
purpose'.
At the Garden Cafe, the authentic fare Bahriyal Kharela (stuffed
bitter gourd), Sai Bhaji (Sindhi spinach) and Bhajiyoon Jo Pulao
(vegetable pulao) would certainly tempt the big eater. A variety
sweets including Sooji Jo Halwa (Semolina Halwa), Malai Kulfi and
Methi Seviyan are also available.
