Modern Sindhi Theater at 125 years

January 2005 Sindhi theatre completed its 125 year of the history.
First Sindhi theatre written by the Mirza Qaleech Baig its name Laila
Majnoon and first play performed Nala Damayanti which was written in
Sindhi by Jethanand Kehhdass in 1880. [Ed. note: recall that the
story of Damayanti and Princess Nala is told to Yudhishthira by a
Rishi according to the Mahabharata, after Yudhistthira and his
brothers had to retire to the forest upon losing a game of chance.]
Sindhi Theatre in essence is charitable theatre. Money collected from
these theatre used in the construction of educational and the health
institution.
In that perspective Indus Valley Theatre want to celebrate the Sindhi
theatre's 125 year on the grand levels and need to ideas as well
resource. Through this celebration of the Sindhi theatre, we want to
performed the under mention plays:
first sindhi play laila majnoon
frist greek play king Oedipus.
adaptation of the Gogol's Enquiry Officer
folk play umar marvi.
as well as:
theatre for the peace: world without arms.
theatre for the women: violence against women.
theatre for the children: stop child abuse.
theatre for the indigenous peoples
street theatre for human rights
theatre for the labor
sufi music for the religious harmony.
