Sindhis warn Bush "alls not well" with Musharraf

From ANI report:

Sindhis warn Bush "alls not well" with Musharraf:

[World News] Washington, Sept.27 : US President George Bush should not
accept Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's "all well attitude" and
should put pressure on the present regime in Islamabad to move faster
in the direction of democracy, a Sindhi group has warned.

In a letter to Bush, quoted extensively by the Daily Times, the
Washington-based World Sindhi Institute said that President Bush
should carefully review his policy towards Pakistan and its military
set-up and support instead the democratic movements that exist, though
they are suppressed.

It also said that it could not accept the US Assistant Secretary of
State for South Asian Affairs, Christina Roccas assertion before a
congressional committee that "Pakistan is now more democratic under
Musharraf than it was before October 1999."

"The unfortunate history of Pakistan persists. Pakistans army
maintains its stranglehold on Pakistan, as it has since the time of
the country's inception in 1947. Rather than being for the people of
Pakistan and of the people, Pakistans nominal democracy is truly,
functionally for the army and of the army," the WSI letter said.

The letter was signed by Munawar Leghari. (ANI)
