Heritage: Swami Narayan's message
Perhaps the best spiritual riposte to the sad event of the terrorist
attack in Gujarat on a Swami Narayan temple, and all the other
religious hatred and violence in the world, is to recall the Swami's
message of religious harmony, tolerance and asceticism. In fact, one
hall in the temple the terrorists attacked was dedicated to religious
harmony.
Swami Narayan's has many followers in Sindh, and among Sindhis around
the world, and the Swami Narayan Temple in Karachi remains one of the
few Hindu temples remaining in that city now dominated by the many
intolerant fanatics who immigrated to it. Many Sindhi Hindus continue
to live around this temple, one of the few pockets of Sindhis in
Karachi.
