Heritage: Partition Scrimmage

"Sindh Munhinjee AmaaN" [Sindh, My Mother], a dance drama,
choreographed and directed by Kathak exponent, Anila Sunder was
presented on August 14, 2002 at Y B Chavan Auditorium, Near Mantralaya
(State Secretariat), at 6.30 pm. on the eve of Independence Day.

"Sindh Munhinjee AmaaN" is a nostalgic saga of a woman tormented with
the perennial woes of women, both as a wife and a mother. In this
ballet, Ms. Anila Sunder artistically maps the travails of women right
from her ancestral Sindh in the pre-partition period to the
post-partition scenario in India. Set amidst the backdrop of
flourishing Sindhi culture and heritage, this dance drama brought
about glimpses of the various traditions, values, festivals and
mannerisms etc which in the present day have undergone a hitherto
unimagined metamorphosis.

Said Anila : "The prime objective of the Academy is to promote
cultural heritage amongst the youth and imbibe the aesthetics of
promoting art and education. "

Anila Sunder has made significant contribution to the popularity
and development of Sindhi Art and Culture.
