Pol, Heritage: Language Conflict in 1971 and 1972
Dear Sindhi friends,
I am a Japanese who had studied Sindhi language and culture for 2
years in Sindh (Sindh University in Jamshoro). You may remember that
I have posted e-mail several times.
This time, I would like to know about the language conflict occurred
in 1971 and 1972 in Pakistan. I have come to know that it was decided
that Sindhi language would be treated as the official language of
Sindh Province. But there is very few information on this matter. I
would like to know the background of the conflict. How was it decided?
Who appealed Sindhi should be the official language and should not be
Urdu. Can we read the official document of that time anywhere such as
Sindh Archives in Karachi?
So please let me know if you have some information on the
conflict. Are there any research thesis, published documents or books
? Is it possible to get them through internet homepage ?
There seems to be no information on Official homepage of Sindh
Province.
Waiting for your help.
