WSI OFFICE OPENING CEREMONY AND SINDHI SHAM IN WASHINGTON DC

The World Sindhi Institute (WSI)  and Mr. Zahid Shaikh  (President SANA
Washington DC chapter ) invites all Sindhis to attend a Sindhi Sham on July
24th, 1999 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The primary purpose of this meeting is
to meet Mrs. Nadera Feroz Ahmed), Dr. Dodo Khan Mehri, Mr. Michael Phulwani
and Master Mazhar Hussain who are currently visiting the Washington DC area.
The program includes opening ceremony of the WSI offices at 605 G street) by
Dr. Dodo Khan Mehri. In addition, there will be a booth where attendees will
be able to obtain books about Sindh and Sindhis,  Sindhi audio cassettes and
Sindhi CDs  and other Sindhi items at the nominal charge.  After the opening
ceremony, the participants will move to a larger hall for the Sindhi Sham
celebration located at:

Mrs. Nadera Feroz Ahmed is widow of Dr. Feroz Ahmed, who was a well-known
Sindhi scholar and social scientist. Dr. Feroz Ahmed was a professor at
Howard University in Washington DC and wrote several books. Mrs. Nadera Ahmed
has dedicated herself to furthering of the work of Dr. Feroz Ahmed and is
spearheading efforts to establish the Dr. Feroz Ahmed library at the Shah
Latif Sindhi Community Center in Islamabad (under construction).

Dr. Dodo Mahari is a leading Sindhi nationalist spent more than 13 years in
Pakistani jails for fighting for the Sindhi cause. He is known for his
courage and valor for organizing Sindhi volunteer committees that were formed
to defend Sindhi families during the ethnic violence that occurred some years
ago. Dr. Mahari is visiting United States at the invitation of Washington DC
based Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Committee (TASSC) and WSI.
During his stay Dodo has met several members of the US Congress Human Rights
caucus.

Mr. Phulwani is a well-known member of North American Sindhi community and a
popular speaker at South Asian functions. Mr. Phulwani's specialty is North
American immigration laws. He has advised and represented many Sindhis on
immigration laws.

Mr. MAZHAR HUSSAIN is a son of famous Ustad Niaz Hussain and a disciple of
SaeeN Noor Shah. He is best known for his Wai renderings and is recipient of
many awards in singing including the first prize in a musical contest
organized by Zee TV.
