Well, I belong to Thar [my village is NewChhore near UmerKot -
ex-capital of Sindh].  Though these people [Athiest Dravidians] follow
certain traditions which are very old, they do follow Hindu religion &
its customs.  Hinduism originated here in Indus Valley, so it may be
that in the course of time they started to follow Hindu religion,
while retaining some of their old tradtions & customs.  Can someone
here on the list who has gone through the book 'Tareekh-e-Raigistan'
[history of desert] by Raichand Rathore [he was Meghwaar] can give a
better idea of all these things.  This book is very well documented,
i.e. written after thorough researching and is a recognized book on
the Desert of Thar.
