Runni Kot

Runni Kot is probably the largest fort in the world, with its walls about 25 kilometers in circumference. The fort is located about 90 kilometers north of Hyderabad and the route passes through Kotri and Sann, the hometown of late G. M. Syed. One has to travel through uninhabited wilderness for some 21 kms to reach the site, by a 4-wheel jeep or camels.

The country inside the Runni Kot is rich with greenery and streams abundant in tropical fish. Remains of petrified fossils and vegetation suggest the presence of a heavy forest in the past. Of the two forts within the master fort, the first is called Kot-Miri. The second one, that looks more like a giant eagle's nest is called Shergarh (home of the lion) and is 15 kms across.
